Children's Week

Taking place once a year in Orgrimmar, Stormwind, Dalaran, and Shattrath City, this week-long celebration is a time to give back to the innocents orphaned by war.

Show an orphan what the hero’s life is like! Visit Orphan Matron Nightingale in Stormwind, Orphan Matron Battlewail in Orgrimmar, Orphan Matron Mercy in Shattrath, or Orphan Matron Aria in Dalaran to get started making a child’s dream come true.

This is the only week of the year when you can obtain pets such as Mr. Wiggles, Egbert, Peanut, Sleepy Willy, Curious Oracle Hatchling, and Curious Wolvar Pup.

Did You Know?

Nine years ago, on May 22, 2007, The Black Temple was added to World of Warcraft.

Long ago on Draenor, the Temple of Karabor was the center of draenei worship. But the devout priests who prayed there are long dead, slaughtered by marauding, demonically corrupted orcs. In the massacre's aftermath the warlocks of the Shadow Council seized the structure and bestowed upon it a new name: the Black Temple.

When Illidan the Betrayer fled to Draenor (now called Outland), he ousted the Temple's ruler - the pit lord Magtheridon - and claimed his throne as the lord of the blasted world. Despite the bitter retribution of his enemies, Illidan has begun to tighten his grip on Outland from within the profaned sanctum, where he awaits any and all who would challenge his rule..

The Lady’s Necklace: The Gift of Song

World of Warcraft questlines serve to immerse players in the rich world of Azeroth by leading adventurers down paths where they can enjoy unique experiences and discover new stories. As each new tale is woven into the world’s tapestry, this rich and textured land of fantasy can seemingly come to life. For those who haven’t experienced this questline before, whether it’s because you’ve only played Alliance or have taken an alternate path through Azeroth, we wanted to take some time to shine a light on a worthwhile journey that begins with “The Lady’s Necklace” in the Ghostlands.

A Sentimental Journey

While this questline can be taken with any Horde character, many have come across this quest while leveling a Blood Elf through the Ghostlands. Available at level 15, The Lady’s Necklace quest item can be dropped by one of the Fallen Rangers at Windrunner Spire.

There are no prerequisites for the quest and this object will start its own short series of quests that will eventually lead you to the Undercity to visit Lady Sylvanas Windrunner. This necklace has a sentimental attachment for her and the end result of the quest provides a truly unique and special reward—a hauntingly beautiful song.

Sylvanas will be joined by several banshees to sing the “Lament of the Highborne.” You may want to have some tissues on hand as it’s truly a touching and heartfelt moment that reveals a softer side (for just a moment) to the banshee queen.

Lyrics in Thalassian

Anar’alah, anar’alah belore,
Shindu fallah na.
Shindu sin’dorei
Shindu fallah na.
Anar’alah belore.
Shindu sin’dorei,
Shindu fallah na.
Anar’alah belore,>

Translation to Common

By the light, by the light of the sun,
Children of the blood,
Our enemies are breaking through.
Children of the blood,
By the light,
Falling children of the blood,
They are breaking through.
O Children of the blood,
By the light of the sun.
Falling children of the blood,
They are breaking through.
O children of the blood,
By the light of the sun,
The sun…

For those who want to take the song home to their Garrison, you’ll want to take a peek at the back of the platform and open Sylvanas’ Strongbox which contains the Music Roll: Lament of the Highborne. Just right-click it to “use” and add it to your music collection.

Achievement Hunting: Off to the Races

Achievements in World of Warcraft are both a record of your accomplishments and a way to look forward to memorable moments that await you. Every Achievement tells a part of your story, and a few come with rewards such as pets, titles, and even mounts. You can see why so many people love to go Achievement hunting.

The Darkmoon Faire

Starting on May 1, the Darkmoon Faire is back in town, and there’s a lot to see and do and play and eat and drink out there. There are replica transmogrification pieces of gear, and mounts, and pets, and toys, and most importantly – there are Achievements galore! Here’s a rundown of a few of the more obtainable Faire Achievements that have some interesting rewards for you.

Triumphant Turtle Tossing

First up, it’s time to take your ring-tossing game to the next level! The precious Darkmoon Ring-Flinger toy is waiting for you if you can just score 10 rings out of 10 while that terrible terrapin tears around in front of you.

You can do it! And just think about how much fun you’ll have with this amazing toy. It flings rings everywhere!

That’s Whack

If there’s one thing that gnolls are good for, it’s being whacked over the head. In the Darkmoon Faire’s whack-a-gnoll game, you’ll want to go for broke and notch a score of 45 points to earn the That’s Whack achievement. This one might take a bit of luck in addition to practice, as it’s all about maximizing your effort by going for the “Hogger”-type gnolls.

Your reward for this Achievement is the wonderful Hogs companion pet. That’s right: take home your very own mini-Hogger today!

Rocketeer Gold

The main attraction at the Darkmoon Faire is surely the timed racing event that starts down at the docks. Once you’ve completed the introductory training races, you can choose from different racing mounts – each with their own set of boosts and jumps – and start taking on The Real Race.

And when you complete The Real Race in fewer than 11 tolls on the Rocketeer mount, you’re rewarded with one of our favorite toys in the game!

Your reward is the Everlasting Darkmoon Firework, and it gives you the ability to send up a beautiful Faire-colored burst of colors every three minutes. Your days of carrying fireworks around in your bags are over!
